Impact

• Increased time spent on listing pages
• Reduced bounce rate from property listings
• Increased listing click‑through engagement
• Improved interaction with property detail content

Context

When renters evaluate a property, location context is often just as important as the unit itself. However, nearby amenities such as grocery stores, parks, and transit were not easily visible within the property listing interface.

Users frequently left the listing page to research neighbourhood information, creating unnecessary friction in the evaluation process.

The Problem

The listing experience lacked clear visibility into surrounding amenities.

As a result:

• Users needed to perform external searches to evaluate neighbourhood convenience
• Comparing listings required switching between multiple pages
• Important lifestyle information was not visible at the moment of decision

This created additional effort during property discovery.

The Goal

The goal was to integrate neighbourhood context directly into the property listing experience so renters could quickly understand the lifestyle surrounding a property without leaving the page.

Strategy

The design approach focused on scanability and rapid comparison.

Key design decisions included:

• Grouping amenities into recognizable categories
• Presenting amenities visually instead of through text descriptions
• Integrating the widget directly within listing pages
• Supporting quick scanning rather than deep interaction

Solution

An interactive amenities widget was embedded directly within property listings.

The widget aggregates nearby amenities using a combination of internal property datasets and external location services.

Key Features

• Dynamic amenity data based on property location
• Category-based amenity grouping
• Interactive visual interface for quick scanning
• Seamless integration within listing pages

Amenity Categories

• Grocery and shopping
• Parks and recreation
• Transit
• Dining
• Local services

This allowed renters to evaluate both the property and its surrounding environment within a single view.

Technical Implementation

• JavaScript widget integrated into Umbraco templates
• Property location data retrieved through internal API
• Amenity data sourced from Google Places and internal datasets
• Dynamic rendering based on geographic coordinates
